DO I NEED A REFERRAL TO SEE A PHYSIO?

No. You do not need a referral to see a physiotherapist, however, bring any relevant documents including a referral, x-rays, scans, reports or discharge letters. NOTE: If you wish to claim through Medicare you will need to be eligible and are required to have a referral from your GP.

WHAT HAPPENS ON THE FIRST APPONTMENT?

The physio will take a thorough medical history as well as a physical examination. We will determine your goals and work towards achieving them with a specific plan including timeframes.Our assessments aim to find the underlying cause of your problem. If further tests or the input of other professionals eg GP or specialists is required, the physio will refer you on.

The treatments may involve safe, pain modulating treatments including manual therapy eg massage, joint mobilisations.

We have a strong emphasis on education and exercise as part of treatment. We like you to have a clear understanding of your condition and what needs to be done to ensure optimal recovery.

We have gym to enable rehabilitation exercises to be performed as part of treatment if required.

HOW OFTEN WILL I NEED TO COME?

Some conditions will resolve quickly but many will take time and ongoing management by your physiotherapist. The physiotherapist will let you know how much treatment will be required on your first visit. While everyone is different, this advice is based on years of experience with similar people with similar conditions Our goal is to empower you so that you don’t require ongoing passive treatments, medications, injections or surgery.

WILL YOU TALK TO MY DOCTOR, SPECIALIST, PERSONAL TRAINER ETC?

We encourage a team approach to health care and believe in communicating with your GP, Specialists, Allied Health Providers, Personal Trainers or exercise physiologists. Communication will be only undertaken with your consent.

HOW LONG ARE APPOINTMENTS?

We have options of 30 minute or 45 minute appointments to suit your needs and the complexity of you problem. If unsure please ask our friendly staff.

HOW IS PAYMENT MADE?

SmartMoves caters for all patient types including private, WorkCover, Department of Veterans Affairs, CTP and Medicare Chronic Disease Management Plans. HICAPS is available for on the spot Health Fund rebates.

HOW DO I FIND YOU?

We are easily located at 1/529 - 539 New Canterbury Road. Parking on street or in council cark park 200m away. Dulwich Grove Light Rail is less than 100m away and Dulwich Hill Train Station 800m.

CAN ANYONE DO PILATES AND GROUP EXERCISE?

Our Pilates and Group exercise programs are fully supervised by your physiotherapist. We recommend an initial assessment to ensure that we understand your previous history of injury, health,and level of strength, fitness and flexibility.
