Steven Laybutt - Principal Physiotherapist/Director

Steve has over 15 years experience in private practice and sports physiotherapy. After graduating in 2008, He began his career in Newcastle and then furthered his development as a physiotherApist by working in some of Sydney’s leading physiotherapy practices.

Steve began SmartMoves Physiotherapy and Health Services in 2019. His goal was to provide a high quality level of healthcare to Sydney’s Inner West.

Steve has worked with elite AFL, Soccer and Rugby League teams and has worked with professional dancers and performers. He gets as much pleasure out of helping everyday people do the things that keep them healthy and happy.

He has a special interest in chronic pain, tendon problems, sports injuries, osteoarthritis, strength and conditioning and the adolescent athlete.

In his spare time Steve enjoys staying fit, playing golf and heading to the beach.

Rebekah Lynch - Physiotherapist

Before becoming a physiotherapist, Rebekah completed a degree in Exercise Science from the University of Otago in New Zealand. She then went on to complete her Master’s of Physiotherapy Practice from the University of Auckland, where she received first class honours. Rebekah has a particular interest in paediatric physiotherapy, and is currently also working part time in Paediatric disability services.

Rebekah comes from the South of New Zealand, and grew up playing every sport imaginable. She found the power of movement while rehabilitating her own injuries thorough her teenage years and this has formed the basis of her passion for evidence based management of injury.

Outside of work, Rebekah is typically exploring Sydney (especially the beaches), running, and spending valuable time with friends and family.

Emma Richards - Physiotherapist

Emma graduated with First Class Honours in Physiotherapy from the University of South Australia in 2010. With over a decade of experience in primary healthcare, she has most recently served as a lead physiotherapist at a prominent Sydney clinic. Emma has also previously worked as an Associate Lecturer within the UTS physiotherapy program, where she mentored the next generation of physiotherapists. Currently, in addition to her clinical work, she is a Project Manager for government-funded healthcare initiatives in paediatric rheumatology.

As a qualified clinical Pilates instructor, Emma is also passionate about using Clinical Pilates for fitness, injury management, and rehabilitation. Her special interest areas within physiotherapy include rheumatology management, chronic disease management, dance injuries, and spinal pain/dysfunction. 

In her free time, Emma enjoys Latin dancing and travelling. 

Ben Boyle - Physiotherapist

Ben graduated from the university of newcastle with a bachelor of physiotherapy. Throughout his career he has worked throughout NSW across all domains of Physiotherapy. Ben has practiced in the hospital system, most notably working with clients in the critical care, neurology, paediatric and musculoskeletal spaces. Ben enjoys working with clients from different backgrounds and across the lifespan.

Ben has spent most of his life playing a variety of sports including hockey, tennis, soccer, futsal, rowing and golf. As such, he knows how hard it is being sidelined through injury. Ben understands the need for strong management and guidance through acute injury and beyond to improve performance and reduce recurrence. Ben enjoys working with clients to achieve their goals and get back to doing the things they love, whether that be work, sport or life. Ben enjoys educating his clients to better understand their injury and empowering them to take an active approach in their management. Ben has a keen interest in running and sports related injuries, tendon problems, vestibular issues, cervicogenic headache, and hip and knee injuries.

When he’s not at work, you’ll often find Ben down at the beach, running, playing a variety of sports, or spending time with his friends and family. 

Candice Smart - Massage Therapist

Candice has completed a Diploma in Remedial Massage and is extremely passionate about massage, health & wellness.

Candice has lots of experience working with people in all different settings and is highly skilled and enthusiastic about her work. She enjoys seeing her clients walk away in much better shape than they arrived!

Candice specialises in Remedial massage with a focus on the holistic approach to the body as she is passionate about people’s well-being. Candice strongly believes that everybody is different and there is no ‘one way’ approach to working with clients. She enjoys using a variety of techniques and tailoring each session to your wants and needs.
